We stayed in this River House overlooking the Delaware River, just 8 minutes from Downtown | Easton, PA

This Airbnb ended up being the perfect place for us to celebrate the holidays in. It was close enough to family members that we visited over Christmas, but just far enough away to give us our own space so our growing family wouldn’t impose too much on the rest of our family members.

It’s a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house that sleeps 6 people comfortably. By far, my favorite feature of the house is the way it was designed to take in the perfect views of the Delaware River. It’s a two story house with a giant deck on each level that spans the length of the house. Outside, there is a large fenced-in yard and a firepit area. Here’s a video I took of the river from the back porch!

Availability opens up in March and beyond. The house sleeps up to 8 people so gather your crew and check this one out. I know it’s beautiful here in any season. I’d love to come back in the fall when the leaves are changing!

The Location

This house is located right on the Delaware River about 8 minutes from downtown Easton, PA. Easton’s downtown has been experiencing a resurgence over the last few years and has no shortage of shops, restaurants, bars, and coffee shops bringing some new energy to an old historic downtown. When we weren’t spending time feasting or opening presents, we ventured out to the Crayola Factory with the kids and Giacomo’s for Italian subs. I’ve listed some more of our favorite restaurants below.

The Space

The main living space of this house is on the second floor where you have an open living, dining, and kitchen area. As you walk down the hallway, you have a bathroom followed by three bedrooms, one King room, one room with two queen beds, and a third room with twin-sized bunk beds (which was a big hit with my kids). I love that the kitchen had windows above the sink so you could see the river while washing dishes. It made that daily task a little less deplorable!

Downstairs is another living area and bathroom. The one thing I didn’t love about this house was that there was no interior stairway to access the downstairs. You had to use the exterior stairs, and because it was so cold and the space wasn’t heated, we didn’t use the downstairs very much. Luckily, we felt like we had a good amount of space upstairs and didn’t really need to use the downstairs much.

What to Do

Breakfast:

Tik Tok Family Restaurant – this is one of those quintessential American diners that this area does so well. This place has great prices and serves breakfast all day. We make a stop here with the grandparents every time we visit!

Lunch:

Giacomo’s Italian Market & Grill – this is an authentic, family-owned market and deli that serves delicious Italian subs and meats. I tried the Sausage Siciliana Sandwich and the Antipasto salad and both were incredibly delicious!

Dinner:

La Bella Via – commonly referred to as “Sal’s” in my husband’s family, this place is a must every time we come here. The pizza flour is imported from Italy and the wood-fired pizza ovens were crafted by master oven builders in Europe. It may sound pretentious, but the restaurant itself is very casual and relaxing, a perfect blend of great food and great ambience! Need I say more?

Drinks:

Porter’s Pub– my husband and I were able to sneak out for some drinks during our holiday visit and we were so happy we came to Porter’s. It’s the perfect Christmas bar! It’s small, warm, and cozy and decked out in Christmas lights. There are over 150 craft beers to choose from and live music Wed – Sat, a perfect place to warm up on a cold winter’s night!
