We Stayed on the Lockwood Mansion Property, as Seen on The Vampire Diaries | Covington, GA

Are you wanting to live like a Lockwood? Or maybe just have a quiet stay in the heart of Covington, GA? Look no further. This carriage house sits on gated property behind the Vampire Diaries, Lockwood Mansion! To our surprise the home was built in 1850, the hosts bought it back in the late 90s and had to do a ton of restoration work. It is absolutely breathtaking! From the inside and out. We were lucky to get a tour of it. Knowing Old House Life and Ramsey Restoration, a multitude of questions were asked and the hosts were happy to answer all of them! The antiques in the mansion are impressive, to say the least. I could’ve spent all day in there looking at all of them.

The carriage house is extremely comfortable and we had everything we needed for our weekend! The grounds are perfect for exploring, taking in nature, or even reading a book. I sat out on the porch by the fireplace and read a novel by Colleen Hoover. It was the perfect setting!

Overall Experience

When we first arrived, the hosts Ben and Ralph, opened the big gate and we made our way up the driveway. The grounds were beautiful and the fountain in the front yard is a prime piece. There have been so many scenes in the Vampire Diaries that were filmed at that fountain, it’s instantly recognizable! When we made it up the driveway we were happily greeted by the hosts and their two cats. You can follow the black and white cat, George, on Facebook! They were all a joy during our stay, super hospitable and the cats were adorable! The hosts left us a birthday cake and some champagne in the carriage house. Both were delicious.

Once we explored the grounds and got settled in, they told us they would reserve a table for us at Mystic Grill. That’s one of the perks of “being a Lockwood”! The food and drinks were so good, I would definitely go back there without a reservation. The Lockwood property is within perfect walking distance of the town square, so we never used a car to get around. Although it did get pretty cold at night.

We’d like to thank Ben and Ralph for making our stay unforgettable! Between their hospitality and genuine open-book nature, they are top-tier hosts.

The Space

The carriage house featured 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, a living space, a kitchenette, and a patio area with a fireplace and seating! All throughout the Airbnb were pictures from when they filmed the Vampire Diaries, pieces from the show, and other TVD-related decorations. It really transports you to make you feel like you’re in the show. And yes, we did watch the first episode of the Vampire Diaries to immerse ourselves even more. We loved how we were able to come and go and explore wherever and whenever we wanted to, gave us a sense of independence even know we shared the property with the hosts.
