This is one of the most beautiful historic homes I’ve seen yet! Exposed brick walls, natural wood beams on the ceilings, and antique furniture that completes each room so perfectly. This one reminds me a little bit of a historic version of Restoration Hardware and I can see why it has been featured in Country Living and Preservation magazines. I would love to stay here and learn more about the history of this home!

There are several mid-week openings available in May and June with weekends opening up more in July and August. Click on the link below to see what dates might work for you!

The Walker-Phillips Farmhouse was built prior to 1820 as a Quaker farmhouse in the now historic village of Waterford, VA. It has three bedrooms and one full bathroom. There are several lovely sitting rooms with wood-burning fireplaces and a large eat-in kitchen with a commercial stove featuring 10 burners and 2 ovens. I would love to cook a delicious meal in that kitchen! The bathroom is on the second floor and there is also an outdoor shower, tub, and sink available during the warmer months.

Waterford Village is one of only three villages in the country to be recognized as a National Historic Landmark District. If you visit, you will see why. With over 60% of the homes built prior to 1861, you will definitely feel transported back in time here. I’d love to come for a weekend and do a walking tour! With D.C. being under an hour away, Waterford is pretty easily accessible while still giving you an escape from big city life.

What makes this place even better, in my opinion, is that it’s also adjacent to Phillips Farm, which has 150 acres of hiking and nature trails. You will also see goats, sheep, cats, chickens, roosters, and be able to wander through flower, vegetable, and herb gardens.

Read why people are loving their stay at this historic farmhouse:
–“I spent a week at Sarah’s beautifully restored farmhouse in late-August and absolutely loved it. It’s close enough to DC to access easily, but it feels worlds apart. The flower and vegetable gardens are so pretty that passersby kept stopping to look at them. The back porch is the perfect place to read in the morning or watch the sunset, and the yard leads to a walking path brimming with monarch butterflies. I had a few friends out for the weekend while I was there and they had an absolute blast making friends with the chickens and ducks in the yard. All of them said the same thing: we have to come back! Best of all, Sarah was also a perfect host, easily accessible when I had questions and making us feel right at home. You can tell that this place is a labor of love and that makes it all the more special.”
-“This was our second visit, we had a great time. It’s incredible how the stress of the city can melt away after a few days here being around the chickens and goats, walking in the nature preserve in the back, and hanging out in the rustic farmhouse. The owners are fantastic and quick to respond to questions, offer suggestions for activities, or build a fire. We look forward to our next stay!”
