This house was originally built in 2007 by some local architecture students who designed it with an open floor plan, no doors, and sustainable passive heating and cooling. It has changed ownership several times and now features some fun and unique art by local Detroit artists in each room in addition to the amazing murals painted on the outside of the house. This house was featured on the National Weird House Tour and also named one of the top Airbnbs in the area. I love how unique and colorful this space is!
Book your stay at this property
The house has quite a lot of availability in the upcoming months so check it out if you’re traveling to Detroit!
The house is located in a rare, prairie-like setting with a skyline view of Detroit and you can easily walk or bike to the riverwalk or downtown from the house. As a guest, you also have access to an organic vegetable garden and you can add on a hot tub for an extra fee. This space is also pet-friendly! It’s listed as a 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom house that sleeps up to 10 people, but the main bedrooms upstairs are part of the open floor plan loft area with no doors so this is just something to take note of before booking.
Here are some reviews of the house on Airbnb:
-“Very fun place to stay. Walking distance to all of downtown. This is a safe place and we didn’t worry at all about the location. 10/10 would stay again!”
–“Wow, this was definitely one of the coolest Airbnbs I have ever stayed in. We loved the setting of being in the urban prairie, it felt like being in the country and the city at the same time. The location was great, we went to many restaurants and bars and it typically took us under ten minutes to drive anywhere we wanted to go. It was also no problem getting picked up by Uber or Lyft. The house itself was well appointed, clean, and comfortable. There are beautiful big windows which all have good quality curtains – this came in handy when we wanted to sleep in. It’s a somewhat open floorplan, which was just fine for our group of friends. While the house was nice, our favorite part was hanging out outside. There is a picnic table with great views of the city skyline and we opted to include the hot tub service which was absolutely worth it. So magical watching the sun set from the hot tub in our own little oasis! For anyone concerned about safety, we had no problems at all and felt perfectly safe. The neighborhood is very quiet and there is a police station nearby. On top of all that, Jason was extremely nice and helpful with my many questions. A perfect Airbnb experience, we will be back!”
