Eclectic Historic House & Indie Recording Studio, minutes from Downtown & Antique Shopping! | Catskill, NY

This is such a large, beautiful historic home in a great location just across the river from downtown Catskill, NY. It is an 1800s Italianate/Greek Revival home and is on the National Historic Registry for its historical significance. It has original wooden beams on the ceiling, hardwood floors, and an antique fireplace. A unique aspect of the home is that it’s also a famous Indie recording studio. They make sure not to have bands recording while guests are there so you don’t have to worry if Indie music’s not your thing! I’d still be dying to ask the owner what bands have recorded there!

Here is what some of the reviewers have to say about this historic NY gem:

“The house is large and beautiful. When we arrived everything was spotless. Kenny was gracious and made sure we had everything we needed and was SUPER responsive. The location was great for our needs. We traveled to Hudson, Woodstock, and Kingston from here. My group was three females and we felt absolutely safe in the area and the house.”

“What a huge house with very unique décor! You can literally walk around this house a hundred times and see something new. It is next door to a Pirate Tiki bar and just over the bridge is Warren Street where you will find many vintage furniture shops, boutiques, restaurants and cafe’s. We drove 30 minutes to Woodstock and 1.5 hours to Sleepy Hollow. Kenny was very responsive and left us a delicious pie along with some other food essentials, tea and coffee.”

“This Old Soul is a glorious one. The house is even more charismatic and beautiful than these photos, located next to a great bar, but with no noise impacts, and just absolutely delightful. The well stocked and well equipped kitchen is a lovely place to sit on warm day. The bed I slept in was super comfortable and the cool, slightly kitsch and really custom decor in this grand old home is lovely. Enjoy!”

The Bar at Captain Kidd’s Inn – And if you’re curious about that Pirate Tiki bar next door that some of the reviewers mentioned, I looked it up and it does not disappoint! It was once the home of the original “Uncle Sam” and the wedding location of former president Martin Van Buren. But now it is a Pirate’s bar to its core!

So if you like historic homes, pirate bars, and antique shopping (or even just one of those things) you will not be disappointed here! Let us know if you visit!
