Historic 1860 Pumphouse Turned Airbnb Right On Lake Superior! | Duluth, MN

Designed by John Wangenstein back in 1860 is the water pump house of the city of Duluth. It was previously abandoned but was restored and renovated to give it a more light/modern feel. Elisabeth Congdon gave this home a refreshing French-style feel with large doorways, countless windows, and light colors. The home features 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a living space, kitchen, dining area, and outdoor seating. It’s crazy how this house is basically on the water! Also keep in mind that this is only a short drive to downtown.

  • We had a wonderful stay at the pump house. All details were well thought out.
  • The Pumphouse is absolutely stunning, and Carin was a wonderful, generous host. Location was perfect- right on the lake with Kitchi Gammi Park and convenient grocery store within walking distance. Easy and clear instructions for check-in. The house itself is beautifully designed, maximizing the gorgeous views of Superior from multiple rooms. Bedrooms and bathrooms were spotless and very comfortable. Kitchen had everything we needed and then some. We loved the outdoor patio with grill and fire pit, and having all of the fireplaces in the house when evening came around was fantastically cozy. Will definitely be back, could be my favorite Airbnb to date!

Things to keep in mind before booking, this is for a maximum of 5 guests, pets cannot stay here, quiet hours are from 8AM-9PM, and parties/smoking are both prohibited.
