Stay in a house that George Washington once slept in! | St. Stephens Church, VA

Whether you’re a history buff or just traveling through central Virginia, you need to come check out this property! Not only does it have a beautifully renovated historic home that George Washington once slept in, but it also boasts a 23-acre farm and offers horseback riding lessons, trail rides, fishing, and canoeing. You can even bring your horse (if you have one) and keep it at the stables during your stay for $30/day. (I’ve seen a lot of pet-friendly AirBnBs but this is the first horse-friendly one I’ve seen!)

Book your stay at this property

Don’t wait to book this one! It stays pretty busy and is great if you want some wide-open space, some nature, and a cool story to tell your friends about.

Take a step back in time during your stay at this historic home, originally built in 1760. Although half of the home collapsed in the late 1800s, much of the original woodwork remained intact and the house was rebuilt and restored in a manner that stayed true to its historic nature. There are two bedrooms upstairs, one with a King bed and attached bathroom, and one with two twin beds. Downstairs, you will find the kitchen, living room, bathroom, and laundry. This house sleeps 4 comfortably but allows 6 with a sofa sleeper downstairs.

Even though you’ll feel like you’ve traveled back in time when you stay here, you don’t have to leave all of life’s modern conveniences behind. This house has several things GW would marvel at like Wifi, heating and air conditioning, TV, DVD, Netflix, AND a Keurig. (A little more than I was expecting honestly!) So after taking some time to revel in the history of this house, I would go explore the farmlands and book a horseback riding lesson! How cool would that be? In addition, the owner offers floral wreath design classes, which also seems like a great way to take home a souvenir after your stay.

Here is what some people had to say about this AirBnB:

-“A cozy and amazing historical place!! It was perfection and just beautiful. Definitely will go back and stay again. It’s one you don’t want to miss if you love history!!”

-“Beautiful, unique, relaxing place to stay. We enjoyed the hammocks, fishing, seeing the barn and meeting the horses. The property is beautiful and well kept. We will definitely come again!”

Whether you’re looking for a relaxing farm stay with views of rolling hills and horses grazing on pastures or hoping to take a stroll through history in this truly charming home, you will find what you’re looking for at this AirBnB!
