Stay in this 1970s Forest Garden Yurt Tucked in the Ozark Forest | Galena, MO

These wooden Forest Garden Yurts were built in the 1970s by Bill Coperthwaite, a pioneer of yurt building in the United States! These two were specifically built as a home and pottery studio for Tom Hess and Lory Brown. This yurt features a kitchen, bedroom, and living space. I love the little reading nook!! And there’s a covered walkway to the second yurt, which is the bathroom. This is such an artistic approach to yurts, definitely not the basic ones we are used to.

Read some of the reviews:

  • This is a magical space…such a cool and unique place to stay. Amanda was very responsive when we had any questions. we would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for something different.
  • Eclectic, unique setting. A fun experience for staying somewhere out of the ordinary and a little off the beaten path. Do be prepared for a little stooping.
  • Absolutely loved our stay here. It’s the perfect location to get your small town, big city, and nature fix all within a 30min drive. The yurts are gorgeous and the history is beautifully displayed. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to relax.

Things to note, you can explore all 4 acres of the property, there are camping chairs and roasting sticks provided, there are some spots with low clearance, and pets are not allowed.
