Stay in this Egg Dome for Easter! | Woodridge, NY

Easter is right around the corner and this geo-dome reminded me of an egg, so naturally, I had to look into it. I was surprised to learn that this is way more than an egg dome! Part glamping, part farmstay, part makers community; this is an experience you don’t want to miss! You will see the most adorable animals, including alpacas, sheep, goats, and chickens! The wool from the alpacas is actually shorn here on the property and woven into winter hats. There’s also a greenhouse, vegetable garden, and eggs for purchase that are just about as local as you can get.

Book your stay at this property

At the time I’m writing this, it’s available for Easter! Otherwise, I would come in the fall because there is a lot of great apple-picking nearby!

I love the simplicity of this space, just one bed in the middle of a dome, which really seems to draw your attention to the natural world around you. Although there’s just one bed, the dome actually sleeps as many as 16 people as long as the additional people bring their own air mattresses/sleeping bags, etc. As part of your glamping experience, you have access to two heated outdoor showers, a clawfoot tub, and an outdoor kitchen with a grill, fridge, sink, and firepit.

Would you be surprised to know that there is also a recording studio and a fiber arts studio on the property? There are also weekly yoga classes, frequent yoga retreats, and musicians often recording in their studio. The owners state that you can inquire as to who may be recording or what other activities are happening during your stay. Wouldn’t it be amazing to book this place while your favorite artist is recording next door?!

The dome is located in the southern Catskill Mountains, which are known for their beautiful hiking, skiing, lakes, and rivers. And being only 90 miles from NYC, it’s also an easily accessible destination where you’ll still feel miles away from it all.

I thought this reviewer gave a pretty thorough summary of his stay:

-“Josh is an absolutely incredible host. From being greeted upon arrival, to walking through all the exciting amenities of the farm (including the 24 hour honors-system barn shop), and to replying promptly about any questions (such as does he have any more butter we could borrow when we ran out), Josh was kind, respectful, and attentive.

Now to the lodging itself – the geodome was the most unique glamping experience I’ve ever had. We were a party of 7 and still had a ton of extra space – I believe it when he says it could sleep 16. The dome was heated but a bit cold given we were the last trip of the season, and due to the cold Josh kindly offered for us to sleep in one of the houses free of charge if we couldn’t handle it!

The farm is so beautifully set up, with warm lights above the picnic space that turn off just in time to stargaze (I have never seen more stars in my life, and would return for the stargazing alone), and with the cutest animals that we got to feed some of the fresh and delicious produce we bought right off the farm. And so close to the loveliest town (Dale’s is a must for pizza and drinks) and fantastic hiking.

Highly highly recommend and will definitely be back. And make sure to check out Josh’s other listings if your budget is lower, this is really a farm experience like no other.”

This one seems perfect for the creative, outdoorsy person who is looking for a unique egg-sperience. Let us know if you plan to stay here!
