The views of these yurts, nestled into the forested hillside are just breathtaking! The Orca Island Cabins are a series of yurts connected by bridges and built right on the boulders, giving them just beautiful views of the ocean from the island. Each yurt comes with a private bathroom with a composting toilet, a fully-equipped kitchen, a dining, living, and sleeping area, and a private deck with a grill. You also have access to kayaks, stand up paddle boards, row boats, and fishing gear. There are also communal decks and fire pits, which would be a nice way to meet some fellow glampers. I would LOVE to take a kayak around this island and see what kind of wildlife I can find!
Book your stay at this property
There are a few dates open in September but beyond that it’s either booked or blocked off for booking. If you feel like you’ve been needing to escape to nature, be spontaneous and book this one now!
The nightly rate for one couple averages from $690-$790/night. I know this sounds pretty expensive, but it does include the 1 hour water taxi ride to and from the island in addition to the kayaks, water craft, and fishing equipment you have access to. It’s a hefty price. but also seems like a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Another thing to note is that you must bring your own food with you and no pets are allowed for this one.
Past guests have given the Orca Island Cabins rave reviews:
–“100% definitely visit Orca Island Cabins if you have the chance to. It is an unforgettable experience and truly a magical place. I proposed to my fiancé at the 50ft foot waterfall that is reachable by kayaks which they have available for open use as well as row boats and paddle boards!! Also, fishing is a must as I caught three rockfish which we cooked up for dinner one night. There is also a very large wild mussel patch under the foot bridge leading to the island which we also collected and cooked up for dinner. A MUST STAY, we will definitely be back.”
–“Orca Island is an astoundingly beautiful place and experience. There is so much to marvel at– from the dense mossy forest, kelp-covered coastline, busy tidepools and creative architecture. The hosts, Susan and Dennis, are very warm and accommodating. You can tell they take great pride in the place they have built, and they genuinely care about their guest’s experience. The yurts are cozy, beds are comfortable, and kitchen is well equipped. After a busy summer of working too hard and too much, my friend and I decided to book a stay at Orca Island Cabins to unwind, but also to play and explore. We spent the day Kayaking to a waterfall where hundreds of salmon were spawning, and later we explored tidepools where we saw vivid starfish and other marine life. It was neat to interact with nature so intimately. The thing I loved most about the experience is the freedom. It was fun to plan our own meals, to be able to use the equipment as we pleased, and the freedom to roam and explore on our own schedule. My friend and I are both artists, and we brought our supplies and painted/crafted on the sun deck. The atmosphere is overwhelmingly inspiring so I highly recommend bringing a journal, sketchbook etc. This place is truly a slice of heaven. I hope to come back again!”
This one would be perfect for nature enthusiasts or anyone with an adventurous spirit. I think it would take a lot of people out of their daily life and give them a reset they could really use right now! If you love glamping, but you’re looking for something a little different, check out this one:
