This Circular 1960s Home was featured on HGTV’s “Big Texas Fix”! | Galveston, TX

This circular-shaped beach home was originally built as a steel storage tank in the 1960s. It’s so fascinating how people are creating beautiful living spaces out of such unique places these days! I love the 1960s vibe of this place! It is fully insulated, has central AC, high speed wifi, smart TV, a large deck, and a nice shaded hang-out space underneath the deck. There is a master bedroom and bathroom with a walk-in shower on the upper level along with an open floor plan for the living room, dining room, and kitchen. Down a spiral staircase on the ground floor there are two more queen beds.

I was surprised to find some dates available this summer in July and August. Click the link to book your stay!

The Kettle House is located on the west end of Galveston Island. It is an 8 minute walk to the beach and about a 10 minute drive to grocery stores, restaurants, and shopping downtown.

Important to note: I’ve pictured below the spiral staircase you need to use if you’re going to sleep in the 2 queen beds downstairs. The owners emphasize that it is very steep and there is not a handrail so it’s not appropriate for children or those who may have trouble with stairs. Also, the bathroom is on the main level so whoever sleeps downstairs would have to come upstairs to use the bathroom.

Here are some reviews from past guests:

“Such a unique and awesome place to stay! Has plenty of room and amenities. Full kitchen and supplies if you want to make meals. It was fabulous to watch the show about the transformation of the kettle while sitting inside it! Island has just about anything you need for shopping food and entertainment.”

“Expect a comfortable environment with amazing beds and fully stocked kitchen! Exceeded any expectation we had!”

“What a wonderful stay at the iconic Kettle House! We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed every nook and cranny. The decor is fun, with 1960’s modern-nostalgic furniture. The open space with lots of windows, means you never feel claustrophoic. Everything feels refreshing and clean. Weather was blustery, so we didn’t make much use of the beach or deck. But, the wind and cold made the Kettle all the cozier. We browsed through all the Galveston books and played games. Watched the HGTV show featuring the house renovation. We cooked one night and braved the weather for a short walk to Waterman’s Restaurant, the other. (Great Happy Hour with food and drink specials, plus a view of the bay.) The Kettle House is so fun, with all the curves and curious angles. Lots of good extras from portable fan to first-aid kit to sound machine. Love the clever way that the comment cards (from guests) are displayed on the wall. Make sure you pack up a bag of Kettle Korn and a bottle of champagne to celebrate this curious landmark!”
