Known as the William Anzi Nichols house, this stone home is one of 100 in the area. They were built in the 1850s during the Settlement Era of Madison County. This one featured a kitchen, living area, dining space, laundry/mud room, a small sitting area, bathroom, and bedroom. I love the tub in the bathroom! And if you have more than 2 guests, two twin air mattresses are available upon request. You’ll also like to know that this is in a central area so stores, gas stations, and more are close by.

- “Pure Bliss! We absolutely loved this beautiful, historic home! The home is located in Winterset a small, beautiful community that is conveniently located close to the Madison County Bridges and John Wayne’s birthplace. This historic, country home showcases times past and preserves this timeless treasure for future generations to come and enjoy. We loved our stay – loved that they left the lights on for us – like coming home.“
- “A house with unique character and rare history that is also very comfortable and beautiful. Hosts were great and clear communicators and had prepared the house very thoughtfully. You will be delighted you stayed here.“
Things to keep in mind before booking, the stairs are steep so if you have mobility issues and young kids this may not be suitable, shoes should not be worn inside the home, pets are allowed but not on the furniture, this is off of a busy road, and the hosts do live and work on the property.
