This Treehouse has Forest and Lake Views, Beach and Trail Access | Coupeville, WA

This treehouse was built by Pete Nelson, the famous treehouse builder from the show “Treehouse Masters”. I love how it was built right into the surrounding trees, a forest of Douglas firs, and you can even feel the treehouse shifting and swaying with the breeze, a totally normal experience here.

I think one of the best features of this house is its location though. It has immediate access to the Pacific Northwest Trail and other mixed-use trails, overlooks Lake Pondilla, and also provides access to two beaches on Admiralty Inlet where you can view the Olympic Mountains. This one seems perfect for nature lovers or anyone needing to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

The Layout

The treehouse has one bedroom, one bathroom, and a loft with a foldout sleeper sofa, with space for up to 4 guests. The main floor has an open-concept living, kitchen, and dining area and a master bedroom with a queen bed. There is a ship’s ladder up to the loft/ lounge area where the sleeper sofa is. Although this could be a primitive off-grid experience, it’s far from it, with all the modern amenities including wifi, to keep you comfortable and as connected as you want to be!

A few things to note

Due to the nature of this treehouse, there are no pets allowed and no children under the age of 12. There are quite a lot of stairs including the ship’s ladder to access the loft area, so this space is not recommended for people with limited mobility. The owners also note that because the treehouse is built right into the trees, they occasionally sway or shift with the wind so this is something to note for people who may be prone to motion sickness.

Reviews

“This is my second stay in the treehouse. Cozy, immaculate, serene, private, surrounded by nature, clean, and well-equipped are all adjectives I’d use to describe my stay. I like the unique beauty of the all wood structure suspended in the trees and the thoughtful touches of all amenities, quality of furnishings and quality of bed…though my favorite amenity is the Japanese heated toilet seat!”

“This treehouse is what dreams are made of! Cozy and well-designed in the most stunning location. The area is quiet and peaceful. You have everything you need. We really enjoyed our time among the trees.”

“Another magical stay at the treehouse. ✨️
We had a fun time exploring the local beach, nature trails, and Oak Harbor. The weather was perfect and seeing the deer stop to literally smell the plants/bushes on the property was priceless. As always, the treehouse was clean, cozy, and the perfect place to relax and unwind after a long week. Looking forward to staying again soon.”
