Vintage ’55 Camper in the Catskills | Shandaken, NY

This one definitely gives off that vintage vibe, and rightfully so, being a 1955 Spartan Royal Manor! The camper’s location seems pretty perfect too, sitting atop a hill overlooking a meadow of wildflowers and nestled between two mountains. Even better, it is next to the trailhead leading into Catskill Park so it would be perfect for an outdoorsy couple who loves hiking!

The camper has a small deck, a fire pit, a charcoal grill, and a telescope for your evening star gazing. Inside the camper, you have a bed, living space, kitchen, dining area, and a bathroom with a shower, and a composting toilet.

The interior of the camper is made of birch. You also have a tiny library and a record player to keep the vintage vibes going.

“I loved our stay! The ambience was great and such an awesome idea for a couples retreat if you’re planning one. Though there is no wifi, we kept plenty busy with board games, listening to records on the victrola (which had a great selection of 60-70s music) and building some campfires to keep us warm. The RV in itself is spacious and so well decorated. It truly does have a vintage vibe. The nights can get cold when staying during the fall but with a small heater provided by the hosts, we were able to make do. There is a flushable toilet and running hot water. It is a fairly private location with only one other house on the lot nearby. For the most part, the RV is tucked away in the back of the property. The floors can get cold! I suggest bringing warm attire to sleep in at night especially thick socks to walk around in! We drove a total of 2 hours to get here and it was well worth it.”

“The Spartan is the perfect mountain getaway, beautiful views and tucked into the peacefulness of nature. It has everything you could need including a record player and a great reading selection. The lack of cell service and TV made it ideal to unplug and spend time with one another. Our first night was very cold but the comforter provided was incredibly warm and we slept like babies! Even on the warmer nights we were very comfortable and loved waking up to the mountains out the window. Evonne and Emma were very communicative so there were no surprises or questions. We really did love this place and will hopefully be back again and again.”

“Absolutely amazing stay! The retro Spartan was so much fun to stay in and fully equipped with everything we needed. Close to an amazing hiking spot (Westkill Mountain). Loved that we were able to enjoy an unplugged weekend away.”
