Back to School, but without the homework! Stay in this 1800s Schoolhouse near Asheville | Waynesville, NC

This one has all the schoolhouse vibes with none of the actual homework! Just come here and you are sure to relax and unwind in this beautiful house while enjoying the surrounding mountain area.

I love that pieces of this schoolhouse have been salvaged and repurposed throughout the years, like the names of students carved into the beadboard, a corn-cob floor patch, and a bookshelf that was made out of the original schoolhouse door.

Although you will feel worlds away from it all, you are actually only 10 minutes from downtown Waynesville, Maggie Valley, Cataloochee Ski Mountain, and Lake Junalaska. There is so much to explore in this area, but I’m not sure I would want to leave this cozy house!

Book your stay at this property

There is a price drop for next week, just $104/night! If not then, I definitely recommend visiting in later in the fall when the leaves are turning.

Did I mention there is a trout stream running through the backyard? You can fish it as long as you have your NC Fishing License.

A lot of past guests have described this place as romantic, clean, and cozy! Read more here:

-“One of the most romantic and memorable stays we have ever been to. Everything you need is provided and with no issues at all. Will be coming here again for a longer get-away. would recommend to anyone needing some time away from daily life.”

-“My husband and I loved our stay in the little schoolhouse. The place is exactly as described in the listing–clean, cozy, unique, and in a beautiful location. We loved the screened-in porch where we sat and watched the neighbor’s sheep grazing. It took about 15 minutes to get to downtown Waynesville for dinner; about 40 minutes for the eastern entrances to the Smokies. Great little spot!”

“Don’t hesitate on this one. It is perfect. You can see the care and love that has been put into the schoolhouse. The location is beautiful, surrounded by nature. Very romantic and also a place where you can spend time alone in quiet reflection. The grounds are well taken care of and offer a lovely creek. I was alone on this trip, but have already recommended it as a honeymoon or anniversary spot to my family. I can’t wait to go back and truly wish I was still there.”
