Stay in a storybook castle | Fairhope, AL

There are multiple castles in the area, but this is the Sheldon Castle. It’s a registered Baldwin County historic home. The hosts do live in the home, but guests have separate living quarters that includes a kitchenette, bathroom, living room, and bed. The area where guests stay has vaulted ceilings and exposed beams! The property backs up to protected park land that is home to a bunch of varieties of birds and owls. The home is only a couple blocks from downtown Fairhope so you can explore all the restaurants, bike trails, beach, and local museum!

  • The castle was a wonderful and magical place to stay! There is so much detail, creativity and love that went into the castle homes and grounds. Pagan had great communication and provided wonderful information and directions. We enjoyed meeting Dean. The bed was comfortable and the studio had everything we needed. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to explore in Fairhope. The studio was sparkling clean and in a very beautiful quiet location. We highly recommend staying here and can’t wait to return next year.
  • Our visit to the Storybook Castle was very enjoyable. It is truly a must see sight of the Fairhope artesian community. It was great to walk the grounds and see details in each of the castles and the grounds. Pagan and Dean Mosher were exceptionally hospitable and afforded us a great experience during our stay. We can’t wait for the next opportunity to be able to stay at the Storybook Castle.
  • Magical little place with everything you need for your stay. Highly recommended.
  • Our stay was glorious! Pagan and Dean went above and beyond what we expected. So glad we chose to stay here and can’t wait to come back!

Some things to note! They do not allow toddlers when visiting, older kids yes. The hosts donate a portion of guest payments to families who have been displaced due to natural disasters, how thoughtful…makes me want to book even more. They have a cat and dog that walk the grounds so be mindful of them, this also means no pets! They used to give tours of a neighboring castle but due to COVID they do not anymore, but you’re more than welcome to walk around! Below you can see a couple of the other castles.
