This is the Ultimate Destination for Stargazing! A Solar-Powered Adobe Dome near Big Bend National Park | Terlingua, TX

I can only imagine that after a stay at this adobe dome in the desert, you will feel more at-one with nature than ever before. This dome house is located in a remote area about 25 minutes from the entrance to Big Bend National Park and 25 minutes from the historic Terlingua Ghost Town. This area is under a dark sky ordinance, one of the few remaining places with perfect views of the night sky! For those who love stargazing, this house is the ultimate destination!

There are a few dates open in September and October. I’d go for October as it can still be pretty hot in this part of Texas in September!

This off-grid dome house is entirely powered by solar power. And in addition to powering a two burner stove, an oven, and a refrigerator, there is also enough power for phones, laptops, and lights. And the house has wifi too. So although the house is remote and off-grid, it still offers these few key amenities to help you have a comfortable stay.

I’m intrigued by the blue glass windows and would love to know more about why they were chosen and how the whole structure was built! A few additional features include: water from the sink that comes from a rainwater collection cistern, a composting toilet in a separate outhouse building, a queen bed, and a pallet couch for a third guest. A few things to note: there is no shower and no pets allowed at this one.

I love the way this reviewer summarizes his stay:

“Love this place. Wife and I came out for anniversary. Place is secluded yet it’s close enough to town if you need it.
Trevor’s communication was great. Very quick to respond if you need him.
A place I would recommend time and time again.

Had a fire
Walked the mile. * found a few scorpions
Enjoyed the rain.
And woke up to a great sunrise.”
