For some reason, I think a nice cold beer would go down really well while staying in this house. This Bavarian Brew House was built in 1842, with the brewery and tavern located in the downstairs cellar and the brewer’s living quarters upstairs. It was exciting to read that you can find photographs of this house at the Library of Congress and that it was awarded the Jo Mead Historic Preservation Award. It was renovated in 2008 with some modern updates while still maintaining so much of its original features and historic charm. The house is located in a quiet historic neighborhood and it’s just a few blocks away from some great dining and shopping options.

Some historic features of the home include the original hitching post and large stone out front for guests as they exit their carriages, Southern Pine hardwood floors throughout the house, and parts of the original summer kitchen (which is currently the owners’ garage), including a fireplace and a breadwarming oven.
Modern updates to the house include: modern kitchen with island, eat-in seating, and a walk-in pantry, comfortable king and queen beds in the bedrooms, and even a massage-therapy shower in the master bathroom. There’s a beautiful patio with string lighting, outdoor furniture, and a gas grill. And you also have central air, heated floors, wifi and Netflix available (so you won’t completely feel like you’re back in 1842!)
