Haunted History

The original owner of the home was Henry Richard Hazelhurst, a man who made a fortune in the iron trade during the Civil War and died in 1900. After a fire destroyed part of the house, it was rebuilt in a different style than the original home, which apparently angered Henry, who is said to be heard stomping through the halls, causing chandeliers to swing or windows not to open. Or you may sense the faint smell of cigar smoke when he passes by. There are also two children who haunt the hallways. I’m not sure if I could stay here, could you?! Here are some reviews from past guests:

“Amazing mansion in the lovely town of ellicott city. The decor is really something to marvel at, and the grounds are really beautiful. Eric was prompt to respond to all inquiries and mar my colleagues and I feel right at home. Definitely recommend this home if you need to be near Baltimore / D.C. but want something more unique than just your average hotel!”

“Eric and Patricia’s home is every bit as stunning and unique as its pictures–loads of character and charm. I rented the house for my bride-to-be to get ready in and for our wedding night. It was an exciting and hectic time for us, but our hosts were incredibly generous with their time and communication to make sure my wife and I had a wonderful experience. And we did! We can’t thank them enough for their hospitality and friendliness.”

“From the moment we arrived, Eric and his family welcomed us in to their stunning and well equipped home, provided us with everything we needed and gave us great recommendations for local sights, trails and food spots

The place itself is spectacular, steeped in history and is impeccably clean. You can lounge by the pool, grill, relax with a drink at night or dine in the lavish dining room – all of which we did and would absolutely do again. FYI considering this place has been in many movies the pictures really do not do it the justice it deserves !!!!

Couldn’t have asked for more welcoming, genuine, down to earth hosts or a better location to get away with during unprecedented times – it’s really somewhere where you can balance relaxation with hiking, visiting breweries / cideries, antiquing and even visiting Baltimore in ~20 mins”

So what do you think? Could you stay here?
