Fire Lookout Turned Airbnb | Fernwood, ID

Crystal Peak Lookout was built in 1959 and was located in Chewelah, WA. In 1983 it was moved to Idaho. In 2018 it was remodeled and now it’s an Airbnb! The lookout sits on 13 acres nestled in the woods. With breathtaking sunrises and sunsets and 360 views, this is a one-of-a-kind experience. This is great for outdoorsy couples wanting to get away and reconnect with nature. With it being on 13 acres guests have the chance to see all types of animals and plants…maybe even a moose! This is something i’d love to do! Especially in the late Summer. You would probably find me relaxing in the sauna that’s on the property after a long day of hiking.

  • Great stay at Crystal Peak Lookout! Would recommend to anyone looking for a wonderful experience out in the wilderness!
  • What a place!! We were so excited for our stay here and once we arrived it truly exceeded expectations. The whole property was so fun and we had a perfect weekend relaxing in the lookout, making pour over coffee and reading books by the fire. Couldn’t ask for a better experience and we’ll definitely be back! Maybe in the winter next time. Thanks for a great stay!
  • This is one of the most unbelievably special places I have ever stayed. Every detail is beautifully done. You definitely need four wheel drive and some confidence driving though. I am ready to plan my next trip back ASAP. This place is straight out of a dream.

Great news, pets are allowed at this one! You’ll want to note that 4WD is needed for this property, if you’re visiting in the Winter you’ll need snowmobiles or use their shuttle service. Let us know what you think about this one and check out other unique listings on our website, The Travel Life.

We have actually featured the hosts’ other Airbnb before, the potato. Check it out for yourself, it’s definitely…unique!
