On a Budget

Looks can be deceiving! | Hut in Stony Fork, NC

Put this one on your list if your budget is under $100! When I saw the outside I was a little skeptical…but wait until you see inside. The home is perfect for a couple or a small family. You have everything you need in this ‘tiny’ home. A kitchen, living room, bedroom, loft, bathroom, washer/dryer, etc.. There’s even a little porch with a table behind the house with a little stream running through. When you look at the pictures you’ll see the walls in the main area are beautiful! The hosts used wood from a 100 year old barn that was on the property! What a cool touch.

It’d be so nice to spend a weekend here. It’s right off the Blue Ridge Parkway and about 15 minutes from Boone. Some of the reviews mentioned a firepit, which is definitely a selling point for me. Imagine enjoying a fire on a cold night after a day of exploring the parkway! I actually love how they spaced out the living room and kitchen area. It’s the perfect size for a couple days and cooking warm meals would be nice. Spending a weekend here in the fall or winter would be ideal, it seems extremely cozy and warm. Imagine watching the snow fall!

This airbnb almost has 5 stars and multiple guests have stayed here more than once, check out some of the reviews:

  • “This place is exactly as pictured. It is well stocked and every detail is perfect! We will definitely be back!”
  • “Beautiful place, private setting, perfect for our family of 4. Would highly recommend!”
  • “Wonderful property and house. All the amenities you need, close proximity to Blue Ridge Parkway, Boone and Blowing Rock! The host was very helpful and responded to questions quickly.”
  • “We loved our stay at the happy little hut! Everything we needed – stove top, fridge & freezer, large toaster/oven, and amazing smelling coffee. The couch was super comfy (not necessarily a given) and we enjoyed new movies on the guest Netflix at night – awesome perk. Cozy, cute, and well-equipped. We came during what everyone said was the hottest week of the year, but the AC worked great! Jason even came down and showed us how to work the AC. The back porch on the babbling little brook was our haven. A great stay!”

This is definitely a hidden gem! Especially considering that it’s under $100 a night, right off the parkway, and close to Boone and other towns. The hosts are super responsive and truly care about you during your stay. You’ll want to note that the driveway is pretty long and your water comes from a natural spring up the mountain!
